Eligibility Guidelines

The purpose of Southern California Equestrian Sports is to foster national and international amateur equestrian sports competition. Through grants to individuals who train and compete in and for national and international orients equestrian events.

CRITERIA

Before individuals submit for a budget grant request for training or competition, the rider must meet the requirements. The applicant certifies that he/she is a bona fide amateur athlete as such term is defined for equestrian competition by the International Olympic Committee.

 Eligibility by Accomplishment – Riders who have placed in the top 25% of a CIC or CCI competition within 4 years of the date of application.

Eligibility by Reference – Riders who do not meet the requirements of above, we will accept them if they can meet the following reference requirements. The individual must furnish a letter stating their goals over the next year. They also must submit two letters of recommendation from fellow riders and coaches stating that the applicant has the drive, potential, ambition to compete at the international level. Most applicants should compete successfully at the US Eventing Association’s Training level or discipline equivalent recognized by USEF.

The President and Treasurer, in agreement with the Board will be allowed to give grants to riders that have fostered great strides in national and international equestrian sports. Riders may be deemed their achievement in International competition in the last one year, is deserving of a grant. All riders will be evaluated without regard to race, sex, religion, age, physical or mental health or national origin.
